We are pleased to welcome you to Christ Church’s Website. Christ Church is an Anglican church within the Evangelical tradition. As a church we seek to be welcoming to all, with activities for all. A focus of our worship is Bible teaching. Our morning services are child-friendly with a crèche and thriving Sunday School. If you are new to church, or to the area, do make yourself known to me or to anyone who is clearly acting in an official capacity in the worship. One of our strengths is the variety of our worship and we hope that through the church you will find much to encourage and strengthen you in your day to day life.
The following three features stand behind all that we do as a church:
Faith building: We believe the Bible reveals God's will and we seek to enable people to understand its true meaning and apply it to their lives. We seek to create a worship environment in which the reality of God is experienced.
Bridge building: We seek to ensure that the church is a valuable feature of the community.
Life building: We believe that we are created to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. We seek therefore to give opportunities for people to discover for themselves the relevance of Jesus for their lives.
In the light of this we welcome those who wouldn’t as yet call themselves Christians. Many have found that Christ Church offers a ‘safe-place’ to learn and ask questions. We hope that no one will leave an act of worship at Christ Church without feeling that they have met with the living God. For those who so desire, prayer for any need is offered after both our Sunday services.
We look forward to meeting you.
Nick Cornell - our Rector
I have been married to Gillian since 2001 and we have two sons Aidan and Theo.
My last role was as incumbent of the parishes of St Bartholomew's, Maresfield and St James the Less, Nutley, two villages near Uckfield. I served my curacy at All Saints’ in Eastbourne where I was also a part-time University Chaplain after studying for four years at Oak Hill Theological College where I gained a Masters in Theology, writing a dissertation on Ecclesiastes!
Before ordination, I studied French and German at Cambridge and then went on to train and qualify as a Chartered Tax Advisor with Deloitte where I specialised in VAT but not to any headline grabbing companies!
Outside of work and family life, I enjoy a number of pursuits - I have a very eclectic taste in music and films, I'm normally tinkering with some new gadget, have several books on the go at any one time and am still trying to brew the perfect cup of coffee.
